A federal judge on Thursday ordered former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) to report to prison next month to serve a 15-month sentence in a hush money case prosecutors said stemmed from allegations of sexual abuse.

U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Durkin ordered Hastert to report by 2 p.m. on June 22, but didn’t specify where the former House speaker would go. Politico reported that Hastert was expected to serve his time at a federal prison hospital in Minnesota.

Hastert was charged a year ago for illegally structuring bank withdrawals, which he used to pay $1.7 million out of a total $3.5 million agreement to a man who accused him of sexual assault dating back to his time as a high school teacher and wrestling coach. Hastert pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced last month.

When asked explicitly during a sentencing hearing if he had sexually abused young men, the longest-serving Republican House speaker replied, “yes.”

Hastert was sentenced to an additional two years of supervised release and ordered to pay a $250,000 fine, which he paid last week.

Child molesters tend to have short prison lives.
On the other hand Denny might enjoy it…just saying.

  4. I lose track, does that leave him on DT’s VP list or not? Maybe raises his chances?
