A Democratic Congressional candidate on Monday published a tweet from his campaign account stating that Republican lawmakers are worse than the terrorist group Islamic State of Syria and Iraq.
The greatest country on earth is being bullied from within. Actions of Republicans in congress are worse than #ISIL. pic.twitter.com/cOfwONHG13

Jesse T. Smith is an Iraq War veteran challenging Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) for his congressional seat representing Alabama’s third district.
Smith clarified his tweet in a Tuesday Facebook post:
Let me clarify my tweet where I compared the republican party to ISIS. Twitter does not allow for context, but this does. I am not saying that the republican party is beheading people in the streets, obviously. Here in America, because we are a civilized democracy, we do not use violence against each other as a means of control. The republicans have used the economy as a means to terrorize the people of this country. Raising interest on student loan rates, trying to privatize social security, passing tax cuts that only help the super wealthy, cutting the food stamp budget for the neediest of people. These are all examples of how the republican party is terrorizing the middle and lower classes of America. Some republicans have openly sabotaged business and worker relations just so a union would not form to help the workers (see VW plant in Tennessee). I will not stand by any longer and allow this to happen. I am going to stand up and fight for the people. The republicans and their interests have harmed the people of this great country long enough. Please, stand with me as we move towards election day.
ISIS reportedly released a video of a militant beheading American journalist Steven Sotloff on Tuesday, just two weeks after they released a video of James Foley’s execution.
H/t Buzzfeed
Yet another reason to NOT USE TWITTER!
Stupid fucking comment. His explanation isn’t much better, but at least it’s not as disgusting.
Repugs may have a much greater ability to hurt the nation but this is despicable rhetoric.
As a liberal Democrat, let me say this is a wrong and misguided form of criticism. Stay classy. Don’t politicize such a horrific act of terror.
As my wife, the middle school teacher often tells her students: “You can think anything you want. Just don’t say it out loud.”.
NOT helpful. And if you’re “clarifying”, you’re losing.
“Let me clarify my tweet where I compared the republican party to ISIS. Twitter does not allow for context, but this does…”
Simple lesson, moran: If you need to provide context, don’t use Twitter. This liberal would not vote for this candidate.
