Non-profit watchdog group Democracy 21 will be writing a letter to the Justice Department asking them to open a criminatl investigation into wheter Romney-backing “super PAC” Restore our Future and Obama-backing “super PAC” Priorities USA Action “are illegal operations,” the group said in a statement Tuesday.
“In order to believe that the Super PACs supporting President Obama and Mitt Romney are ‘independent’ from the presidential campaigns they are supporting, you must believe in the tooth fairy,” President Fred Wertheimer said in a statement. “Democracy 21 does not believe in the tooth fairy.”
Democracy 21’s statement came following the announcement that Obama officials would be courting donations to Priorities USA Action.
