Continuing to jump on Mitt Romney over a Bloomberg report that he tried to keep Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) from touting the recovery in his state, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said on Thursday that “Mitt Romney has truly sunk to a new low.”
Romney disputes the report, but Democratic officials said on a conference call it was of a piece with other states where Romney has downplayed economic growth while Republican governors have sought to highlight improving jobs numbers.
“The bottom line is Mitt Romney and the Republicans cannot have it both ways,” former Iowa Gov. Chet Culver (D) told reporters. “They can’t on the one hand suggest that we’re not recovering but on the other hand have Republican governors that talk every day about the progress of the recovery in their particular states.”
