Only hours before he died after collapsing in the New York Times newsroom on Thursday, media columnist David Carr conducted an hour-long interview with National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden as well as journalists Laura Poitras and Glenn Greenwald.
At an NYT “Times Talks” event hosted by the New School in Manhattan, Carr spoke with Snowden and the others about Poitras’s film “Citizenfour,” touching on NSA surveillance, and the story of how Greenwald made contact with the now famous leaker.
“Glenn, I could congratulate you on your Pulitzer but I’m a fellow journalist and kind of jealous,” Carr opened, to laughs from the audience.

RIP Mr. Carr. A man of integrity.
He looks extremely thin. Was that normal for him?
All the pictures that I have seen him, show a thin man, but this photo is disturbing. Anorexia? Chronic disease? He had a number of health problems, including Hodgkins Disease in the past. Perhaps some combination of these contributed to his thin appearance and his sudden death.
NYT said today he died of complications of metastatic lung cancer. So yeah, he was not well.
