A string of shots rang out at the Dallas Love Field Airport Friday afternoon in an officer-involved shooting, which is believed to have begun as an isolated instance of domestic violence.

In video of the incident, nine shots can be heard after officers responded with their guns drawn. The suspect was taken to the hospital, the Dallas Morning News reported.

The male suspect is believed to have attacked a car outside the airport armed with a rock. His relationship with the woman driving the car is not yet known.

The suspect refused to put the rock down when approached by officers, police said in a press conference. Police could not confirm how many times he was hit by the officer involved, but said the man was conscious when he left the scene en route to the hospital.

An Instagram video from user Bryan Armstrong appears to shows the shooting. Nine shots are heard after an officer with his gun drawn repeatedly shouts “stay down!”

Airport officials were in the process of evacuating the building so normal operations could resume. In the chaotic scene, some passengers ran past the TSA security checkpoint, so passengers need to be re-screened.

Dallas director of aviation Mark Duebner told the paper that officials hope to have the airport back to regular operations by 2 p.m. local time.

The NBC affiliate in Dallas reported on-air that no flights are affected.
