“The Daily Show” left New York City for the Midwest to find out why Nebraska is abolishing the death penalty.

Correspondent Desi Lydic talked with Republican state Sen. Colby Coash on Thursday’s episode about the death penalty, a practice, Lydic said that was, “American as apple pie. That’s laced with pentobarbital.”

Caosh explained to a skeptical Lydic that the Cornhusker state is abolishing the death penalty because of conservative values.

“You used conservative principles to convince conservatives to violate their beliefs,” Lydic said. “That is, like, the slickest, most underhanded Republican thing I’ve ever heard.”

  1. I would respect conservatives more if they were as intellectually coherent as this legislator.

    But they´re not, usually.

Unfortunatally, the repeal law was blocked by a petition and is now on the 2016 ballot. There is no way in hell redder then red state Nebraska will vote to abolish the death penalty. A 70-30 split wouldn’t surprise me.

One way Pushkin explained conservative coherency: “The illusion that exalts is dearer to us than 10,000 truths.”

  4. She’s such a great new correspondent. It’s about time the hot, white, blond ladies got a chance in this world!

But seriously, the fact that she’s pregnant in this sketch makes it so much funnier!
