The progressive cable network Current TV on Wednesday announced it hired California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom to host a weekly talk show. “We are honored that Current TV will be bringing his curiosity, intelligence, insights and enthusiasm to television,” Current’s Chairman Al Gore said in the release.

The New York Times reports that Current will pay Newsom, but didn’t specify his salary. According to a representative for Newsom, he will donate his salary to charity.

“The Gavin Newsom Show” debuts in May.
