Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is finally getting his one-on-one debate Donald Trump.
APRIL FOOLS’!
To mark the worst fake holiday of the year, Cruz’s campaign tweeted out a video titled “Donald Trump Accepts Cruz’s Debate Invitation.” The senator has for months challenged him to a “mano-a-mano” contest.
The bit opens with Cruz telling Trump he would debate him “anytime” before cutting to the frontrunner griping out they’ve already had 11 presidential debates and “we’re going to go on forever with these debates” before transitioning into Rick Astley’s 1987 one-hit wonder “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
It was an attempted “Rickroll,” the bait-and-switch video meme.
Watch the video below:
Wow, actual 2008 style rickrolling. That’s like the Stone Age for the Internet. Oh, now I see the connection. Carry on, Ted.
Gee, that’s original, using something that went stale about 5 years ago. But then, we ARE dealing with a Teabagger Republican. I’m really surprised he didn’t drag out “Where’s the beef?”, too.
Joe Isuzu was the low hanging fruit here.
Geez. He might as well just have said “Can haz debate?”
He is sorta, isn’t he? He’s certainly not as bad as Marcus Bachman, but they would make a cute couple.
And if I thought that Cruz had anything to do with the Rickroll, it actually woulld’ve improved my impresssion of him, albeit not by much. And I don’t have anything good to say about him anyway. It’d be sort of like seeing him clean a piece of spinach from between his teeth.
