Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) presidential campaign has taken down a campaign ad that featured a porn star, BuzzFeed News reported Thursday.
The ad captured by Buzzfeed showed a group of people attending a therapy session because they were displeased with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’s stances on issues like immigration. Among the actors was Amy Lindsay, whom BuzzFeed reported had starred in a number of softcore porn films.
In the ad, Lindsay tells another member of the therapy group: “Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face next time.”
When BuzzFeed News contacted the Cruz campaign for comment, spokesman Rick Tyler said the ad was being taken down and would be replaced.
“The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job,” Tyler told the news site. “Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad.”
She told the news publication that she’s a Christian conservative and Republican.
“In a cool way, then hey, then it’s not just some old, white Christian bigot that people want to say, ‘It could be, maybe, a cool kind of open-minded woman like me,’” she told BuzzFeed.
Lindsay told BuzzFeed she was deciding between Cruz and Donald Trump for her presidential pick. It wasn’t clear if the ad had been broadcast.
Oh boy (facepalm)
This is a win-win. Ms. Lindsay got a great gig, Ted Cruz got nothing, and he looks like an idiot. Everyone is happy.
The republi-cons have never been very good at vetting, e.g. $isiter $arah!
“… It’s a fair cop; but Society’s to blame.”
“Right, we’ll arrest them instead…”
Monty Cruz’ Flying Monkey Circus…
“Amy Lindsay, whom BuzzFeed reported had starred in a number of softcore porn films.”
For fuck’s sake, Sara, I’m sure your heart’s in the right place and you have lots of talents but grammar is clearly not one of them. Get yourself a copy of Strunk & White or Fowler or whoever. “Amy Lindsay” is the subject of your clause. Forget about BuzzFeed, it’s a distraction. Essentially your sentence boils down to, “Amy Lindsay, who had starred…”
Sorry to be a grouch but it kills me to see the English language massacred on a daily basis here on TPM. Come on, this is grade school stuff.
