A conservative super PAC in Missouri, the Now or Never PAC, has placed $800,000 into an ad buy supporting Rep. Todd Akin in the final days of the Missouri Senate race, arguing that voters should support Akin because him will support Mitt Romney. The buy represents a significant boost to Akin’s campaign since the National Republican Senatorial Committee and other large Republican super PACs largely abandoned the race.

The ad argues that even if voters don’t like Akin himself, it’s important to have a Republican Senate to work with Romney.

“Mitt Romney can take our nation in a new direction, but he needs a Senate that supports him,” a narrator says in the ad. “That’s where Todd Akin comes in. You don’t have to agree with everything he says, but you can be sure, in the Senate, Akin will vote for Romney’s policies.”

“To avoid Washington gridlock and get this country back to work, our best choice is Todd Akin,” the narrator concludes.

Now or Never PAC supported former Missouri Sarah Steelman in the primary. “Todd Akin may have not been our first choice for Republican nominee in the race to replace Claire McCaskill,” said Tyler Harber, the group’s spokesman. “But, Congressman Akin plays an important role in securing the Senate chamber.”
