Columbia University announced on Monday that it was canceling a concert scheduled for this fall because of “safety concerns associated with drinking and sexual harassment.”
The decision, which was reported by The Columbia Spectator campus newspaper, was made during a meeting among the university’s four undergraduate deans and members of the bacchanal committee.
The committee issued a press release following the decision, which outlined some of the concerns.
This effort to minimize the possibility of sexual violence comes after the university faced scrutiny earlier this year. In April, a group of 23 students filed a federal complaint alleging that Columbia had mishandled reported instances of sexual violence.
what was the concert?
Maybe billing the event as “Bacchanal” isn’t a good idea.
So, basically, when forced to face consequences for their failure to handle student complaints properly, their response is to punish the students by banning a fun activity.
I smell the smell of a small-minded associate dean or deans whose incompetence has come to light. Ah yes, I recognize the mindset of old.
Ah yes, feminazis at it again. Cancel the fun! Control your inhibitions! Somebody might get laid!
Three blocks in the wrong direction from Columbia and you’ll find all the sexual harassment you could possibly handle.
That was my first question. In fact, I can see Columbia from my apartment. I want to know what I am now missing. Next, I’m going to ask Darcy what the hell he/she is talking about (presumably) disparaging my neighborhood.
