A new poll from CNN shows that Americans don’t assign a “great deal” of blame to President Obama’s Adminstration nor Republicans in Congress. A 55 percent majority do say that about oil companies, from the network’s numbers. Second on the list is oil producing nations, which 34 percent of Americans say deserve a great deal of blame for high prices.

In total, none of the various groups get away — a majority of Americans say everyone has at least some blame, but the ire is clearly aimed at the businesses making money off of high gas prices. Partisans tend to blame the members of their opposing party in government, while independents and Democrats blame oil companies strongly, and as 39 percent of Republicans say those businesses they deserve a great deal, that’s less than the other subgroups.
