A little less than half of Americans believe that climate change is proven and that it can be attributed to man-made causes, according to a CNN/ORC International poll released Tuesday.
Forty-nine percent said climate change — which was addressed by President Barack Obama during his second inaugural speech Monday — is settled science and that it’s caused by emissions from cars, power plants and factories, double the number of respondents who indicated that global warming has not been proven. It’s also a little more than twice as high as the 24 percent who said that climate change has been proven but is not linked to man-made causes.
But according to CNN, the 49 percent who believe climate change is both real and a man-made phenomenon is down seven points from 2007.
