CNN President Jeff Zucker on Monday said that the recent controversies involving MSNBC hosts Martin Bashir, Alec Baldwin and Melissa Harris-Perry hurt the network’s brand.
“I think all of those things combined affect the brand over time and the cumulative effect takes its toll,” he said in an interview with TV Guide.
Zucker also boasted that CNN has surpassed MSNBC when asked how his network’s ratings.
“The turnaround will take years. But we just went from third place to second place ahead of MSNBC,” he said.
MSNBC President Phil Griffin on Wednesday defended how the network handled the controversies with three of its anchors.
