Hillary Clinton made an appearance via video late Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention, hours after she made history by formally becoming the first female presidential nominee of a major party and following a heartfelt pitch for her candidacy and her character, former President Bill Clinton.

Clinton’s appearance came after Alicia Keys sang her hit “Girl On Fire,” and was preceded by pictures of former presidents flashing across the screen on the DNC stage. A sound of glass shattering erupted as she finally appeared on screen.

“I am so happy for this great day and night. What an incredible honor you have given me, and I cannot believe we just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet,” she said. “Thanks to you and everyone who has fought so hard to make this possible. This is really your victory. This is really your night.”

The camera panned out to show Clinton standing alongside a young girl, and the former secretary of state said she had a message for any other girls who might still be awake at the late hour.

“Let me just say—I may become the first woman president but one of you is next. Thank you all,” Clinton said. “I cannot wait to join you in Philadelphia.”
