As the first presidential debate wrapped up Monday night, Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump for his remarks calling women “pigs, slobs and dogs.”
After moderator Lester Holt questioned Trump about his comments regarding Clinton’s “presidential look,” she responded by bringing up the GOP nominee’s long record of comments, some racially charged, that insult women for their appearance.
“This is a man who has called women pigs, slobs and dogs, and somebody who has said pregnancy is an inconvenience to employers, who has said women don’t deserve equal pay unless they do as good a job as men,” Clinton said.
She went on to cite Trump’s comments about Alicia Machado, the 1996 winner of the formerly-Trump-owned Miss Universe competition.
“He called this woman ‘Miss Piggy,’ then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping,’ because she was Latina,” Clinton said. “Donald, she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado, and she has become a U.S. citizen, and you can bet she’s going to vote this November.”
Man.
Shredded Pork.
Thank You Esme.
BOOM! The kill shot.
Lights out.
Okay, Ms. Clinton, I can get behind a lot of what you say, and I am 100% going to vote for you, but I’ve seen this bit quoted a few times, and it sticks in my craw. What, exactly, is wrong with this? “Equal pay” is supposed to be shorthand for “equal pay for equal work”, right? Are you trying to shoot yourself in the foot by saying women deserve equal pay for less or inferior work? Because…no.
This was delivered perfectly. And the DT is yammering in the background “where’d you get that? where’d you get that?”. That’s what rattled sounds like.
It’s a perfect example of his own words biting him in the ass.
I’m so happy she had this arrow in her quiver.
