In a statement to TPM, the Hillary Clinton campaign — through spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa — expressed “concerns” about reports that the Department of Homeland Security is planning deportation raids targeting families who crossed the border in the recent Central American migrant crisis.

“Hillary Clinton has real concerns about these reports, especially as families are coming together during this holiday season. She believes it is critical that everyone has a full and fair hearing, and that our country provides refuge to those that need it. And we should be guided by a spirit of humanity and generosity as we approach these issues,” Hinojosa said in the statement Thursday.

Wednesday evening, the Washington Post reported that immigrant enforcement officials were preparing to deport hundreds of families who came illegally into the United States — largely fleeing violence in Central America — but whose claims for asylum had been rejected.

Clinton’s Democratic 2016 rivals have also criticized the Department of Homeland Security based on the reports.

He did not, we pay, he plays golf.

  4. What is the reason for the quotes around concerns? Are you trying to suggest that these are not actual concerns? If so, please explain.

Well candidates are always expressing ‘Concerns’ when it involves one of their voting blocks. Those on the deportation list are not voters but how ‘Concerns’ the candidate is in criticizing their deportation will shore up that voting block of those that can vote. But of course they will never mention Obama or criticise the president directly for enforcing the deportations.

    So it goes.
