Chris Christie applauds during a gathering in Union City, N.J., Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014. A top aide to Christie is linked through emails and text messages to a seemingly deliberate plan to create traffic gridlock in a town at the base of a major bridge after its mayor refused to endorse Christie for re-election. "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," Christie aide Bridget Anne Kelly wrote in an Aug. 13 email to David Wildstein, a top political appointee at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the George Washington Bridge connecting New Jersey and New York City, one of the world's busiest spans. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is scheduled to make an appearance at a Thursday fundraiser for Steve Lonegan, who lost the New Jersey Senate race to Cory Booker and is now running for a House seat in Southern New Jersey.

The Sunlight Foundation reports:

The Lonegan camp is putting together a $1,000-per-person reception on Thursday with New Jersey Reps.Scott Garrett, Rodney Frelinghuysen and Leonard Lance, as well as Gov. Chris Christie. No word if bridge-gate/Fort Lee fiasco/other TBD traffic scandal-related shorthand will keep the governor from the event.

Christie has held zero public events since last week when one of his top aides was implicated in the closure of lanes on the George Washington Bridge.
