As the investigation into his administration’s role in last September’s lane closures on the George Washington Bridge heats up, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is taking a fundraising trip to Florida.
The trip will include an event Saturday at the Country Club of Orlando to benefit Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R). Tickets for the fundraiser, where Christie is billed as a “special guest” cost between $1,000 and $2,500.
Christie will also headline fundraisers for Scott in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Observers have speculated these events will be a key test of whether Christie can retain his status as a rainmaker for Republican candidates nationally in spite of the scandal.
On Thursday, Christie is also scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Republican Jersey congressional candidate Steve Lonegan.
