Republican presidential candidate and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) had spent the morning in Iowa, but protesters who stormed the stage during his speech at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday made the governor think he was back in Jersey, according to The Des Moines Register.

“I have to tell you the truth, when something like that happens and I’m here in Iowa, man I feel right at home,” he told the audience, according to the newspaper. “It’s like I’m back home in Jersey for a couple of minutes. So thank you Iowa for doing that.”

Three protesters climbed up to the stage while Christie was speaking. Two men carried a sign with a picture of a hog in a gestation crate that read, “It’s not food. It’s violence.” A woman shortly followed them on stage. All three were escorted away by security and ejected from the fair, according to the publication.

Christie vetoed a bill last year that would have prohibited using crates. Some considered it an appeal to Iowa voters, according to the report.
