Republican presidential candidate and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said in an interview that aired Sunday that he never donated to or supported Planned Parenthood—but that statement contradicts what he said in the 1990s, the Newark Star-Ledger reported.

John Dickerson, host of CBS’ “Face the Nation,” asked Christie about a pro-Marco Rubio super PAC ad that stated the governor supports Common Core, once supported a ban on assault weapons and donated to Planned Parenthood.

Christie has since conceded that he’s changed his mind on gun control, but he flatly denied on Sunday that he ever supported Planned Parenthood.

“Well I never donated to Planned Parenthood, so that’s wrong,” Christie said before criticizing Rubio.

Dickerson then asked Christie to clarify that he “never donated, never supported” the women’s health care provider.

“No, no,” Christie responded.

But Christie did say when he was running for county office in 1994 that he supported the organization “with my personal contribution and that should be the goal of any such agency, to find private donations,” as quoted by the Star-Ledger.

A spokeswoman for the Christie campaign did not immediately return TPM’s request for comment. Campaign spokeswoman Sam Smith told the Star-Ledger that Christie “did not donate to Planned Parenthood.”
