The AP reports that China criticized Mitt Romney’s recent comments on Jerusalem, noting that the GOP candidate’s stance could worsen the current situation in the Middle East or potentially spark violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Xinhua News Agency, China’s state media, called Romney’s comments “hawkish remarks” and “radical words,” noting that they disregarded Palestinians’ claims to Jerusalem. “Romney’s remarks totally neglect historical facts and are actually irresponsible if he just meant to appeal to voters at home,” Xinhua said.
