The BBC reports that local authorities in China have blocked citizens’ access to the Bloomberg and Businessweek websites. Bloomberg, which maintains both sites, said it believes the block is related to a recent article detailing the wealth of the extended family of Vice President Xi Jinping, who is slated to become China’s next president in 2013.
The move comes two days after The New York Times‘s social media accounts were shut off for several hours, and is the latest in a series of blockages comprising the Great Firewall of China. YouTube, Google+, Twitter, and Facebook are among the websites banned in China.
