The campaign manager for former Gov. Charlie Crist’s (D) gubernatorial campaign has quit.

Bill Hyers, who was hired to run Crist’s campaign against Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R), has quit the former governor’s campaign, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Hyers, a well regarded Democratic campaign operative, previously was the campaign manager for now New York Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s bid to succeed New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Shortly after the mayoral campaign ended Crist quickly approached Hyers about running his gubernatorial campaign, according to a profile of Hyers in The Washington Post.

The Tampa Bay Times report did not say why Hyers quit.
