CNN anchor Carol Costello apologized on Thursday for comments she made about the released police tapes of Bristol Palin’s interview following a bloody brawl that took place on Sept. 6.
Costello issued an apology in a statement to Politico.
“Over the past few days I have been roundly criticized for joking about a brawl involving the Palin family. In retrospect, I deserve such criticism and would like to apologize,” Costello said in the statement.
During a broadcast on Tuesday, Costello had commented on the audio recording of Bristol Palin.
“This is quite possibly the best minute and a half of audio we’ve ever come across,” Costello said. “Well, come across in a long time anyway.”
Bristol Palin published a post on her blog on Thursday about the CNN anchor’s treatment of her police interview.
“I’m not ever going to listen to the audio and relive those moments,” Bristol wrote. “But how can a reporter call this the best audio she’s ever come across?”
