Republican presidential candidate and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina said Sunday that her tweet that set off a “#CarlyCurse” trend on Twitter was just a joke.
Fiorina tweeted Friday in support of the Iowa Hawkeyes, instead of her alma mater and the Hawkeyes’ opponent in the college Rose Bowl game, Stanford.
Love my alma mater, but rooting for a Hawkeyes win today. #RoseBowl

Stanford went on to beat Iowa 45-16. Some on Twitter used the opportunity to get the hashtag “#CarlyCurse” trending.
Fiorina responded to the criticism on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“For heavens’ sake, can’t a girl ever have a little bit of fun? That was a tongue in cheek tweet,” Fiorina said on CNN. “A girl needs to have a little fun sometimes. I guess it was a slow news day for the media.”
To which CNN host Dana Bash said, “Well, it was New Year’s.”

I’d have hoped laying off 30,000 employees would have been plenty enough fun for you to last a lifetime.
Not too smart. Justifying her actions as those of a girl and favoring one state’s University over another when you need votes from everyone. She just pissed off a bunch of folks and put the female thing “on the table”.
Nothing particularly funny about the tweet. Where did conservatives get the idea that calling something a joke makes it go away? They’ve been doing it forever.
GIRL? That woman hasn’t been young enough to make claim to that appellation for 40+ years!! As some wag put it: JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE!" Ok - nothin’ like snark in the AM!!
