It sounds like the kind of abuse anonymous Internet trolls hurl at women on Twitter: “Whiny little self-righteous bitch.”

But as BuzzFeed reported Wednesday, a spokeswoman for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) found herself on the receiving end of that insult and several others that were sexual in nature after she reached out to Daily Caller editor-in-chief Tucker Carlson and wound up with an unsolicited response from his brother, Buckley.

Amy Spitalnick had contacted a Daily Caller writer to request a correction on an article, then appealed directly to Carlson after some unsuccessful back-and-forth with the writer and his editor, who characterized her request as “whiny.”

In his reply to the spokeswoman, Tucker Carlson agreed with the editor’s assessment that Spitalnick had been “whiny and annoying.” But he assured her that his staff was reviewing the accuracy of the story.

Spitalnick then received an email from Buckley Carlson to Tucker Carlson that was inadvertently sent to her as well, according to the email chain obtained by BuzzFeed:

Great response. Whiny little self-righteous bitch. “Appalling?” And with such an ironic name, too… Spitalnick? Ironic because you just know she has extreme dick-fright; no chance has this girl ever had a pearl necklace. Spoogeneck? I don’t think so. More like LabiaFace.

Carlson later assured BuzzFeed that he had talked to his brother about the email, who said “he meant it in the nicest way.”
