Veteran newsman Tom Brokaw said that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner officially jumped the shark when troubled actress Lindsay Lohan attended the annual event.

“The breaking point for me was Lindsay Lohan,” Brokaw told Politico in a story published Friday. “She became a big star at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Give me a break.”

Lohan was a guest of Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren at the 2012 dinner. Following last year’s event, the former anchor of NBC Nightly News criticized the soiree, saying it “separates the press from the people that they’re supposed to serve, symbolically.”

This year’s correspondents’ dinner is scheduled to be held Saturday and will be hosted by late night host Conan O’Brien. Brokaw, it probably goes without saying, will not be in attendance.
