A rocket-propelled grenade hit a British diplomatic convoy in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Monday, critically injuring one person, according to reports. The vehicle, says Libyan Deputy Interior Minister Unis Sharif, was carrying security personnel for the head of Britain’s diplomatic mission in the city.
Experts say that the area surrounding Benghazi is home to numerous groups opposing any Western presence in Muslim countries. The attack follows a June 6 blast outside the offices of the US diplomatic mission in Benghazi. That explosion left no casualties, but did damage the front gate.
