After former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) abruptly broke the news last week that Bristol Palin had called off her wedding to Dakota Meyer, Bristol on Tuesday addressed the canceled wedding.

“I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off. I’m sure you’ve seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers,” Bristol Palin wrote in a blog post on Tuesday.

Bristol Palin, who had planned on a May 23 wedding, instead spent the weekend in Alaska with friends and her son Tripp.

“I know God’s plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated,” she wrote on her blog.

When Sarah Palin announced that the wedding had been canceled last week, she included a statement from Bristol addressing rumors that she called off the wedding over Meyer’s previous marriage.

“Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about ‘secret wives’, Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement. Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers,” she said in the statement. “As usual, false stories and dramatically written headlines begging controversy should be disregarded, and we have faith that our privacy will be respected at this time by those with decency.”

  1. So why was it called off?

Not that I care, but c’mon people.

  2. Interesting. Barstool and her harridan mother demanded that the press give Barstool privacy. Guess the press listened and Barstool was getting no publicity.

Barstool: You can’t demand privacy then make public statements.

The dress is appropriate for bar-hopping though

  3. I always feel dirty after clicking on a Palin-related article. I don’t want to, but i just can’t help myself.

Maybe Bristol will wise up/grow up, and work on re-building her life and reputation in the same vein as Monica Lewinsky.

  4. I know. It absolutely makes no sense. But then, nothing Caribou Barbie says makes any sense either so maybe it’s another one of those genetic defects in that family.

  5. Dear TPM,

    STOP GIVING THEM ATTENTION!

    Sincerely,
    Everyone.
