House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) accepted defeat Wednesday, in his first public comments after a bipartisan Senate deal to avert default and reopen the government.
“We fought the good fight, we just didn’t win,” Boehner told a Cincinnati, Ohio radio station.
Boehner also said that despite his efforts to appease his conservative wing in pushing for the defunding of Obamacare, he would ultimately allow the Senate deal a vote in the House.
