Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) hinted at a 2016 presidential bid on Monday with the launch of a presidential exploratory committee.
“For some time now, my wife Supriya and I have been thinking and praying about whether to run for the Presidency of our great nation,” Jindal said in a statement, according to the Washington Post. “If I run, my candidacy will be based on the idea that the American people are ready to try a dramatically different direction. Not a course correction, but a dramatically different path.”
Jindal said that he will make a final decision on a potential presidential bid after the Louisiana legislative session ends on June 11, according to the Post.
The Louisiana governor has been weighing a presidential run for a while and joined other 2016 hopefuls this weekend at the Iowa Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner.
