Fox News host Bill O’Reilly boasted on Sunday that former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger had endorsed his idea to train and pay a mercenary army to fight terrorists.
“I was with Henry Kissinger last night and he told me my idea of a worldwide anti-terror force paid for by the coalition of nations under the supervision of Congress. … Kissinger has endorsed that for years,” O’Reilly told ABC host George Stephanopoulos, appearing on “This Week” to promote his latest book “Killing Patton.”
Stephanopoulos asked O’Reilly how the subject of his book would like the plan.
“Would [General Patton] really believe in outsourcing our national security like that?” he asked.
“No … If George Patton were alive today, he’d be saying to President Obama, ‘Gimme the Third [Army],’ I’ll go into Syria and wipe’em all out,'” the Fox host answered.
“But we don’t have many Pattons today,” O’Reilly added.
Last week, O’Reilly appeared on “CBS This Morning” and pitched the creation of “a 25,000 man force to be deployed to fight on the ground against worldwide terrorism.”
That evening, on his show “The O’Reilly Factor,” he interviewed Erik Prince, the founder of private security firm Blackwater. Prince was supportive of using contractors to combat terrorist groups.
