Conservative pundit Bill Kristol described House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) comment on the Benghazi investigation “embarrassing” on Thursday.
McCarthy, who is vying to be the next House speaker, earlier this week boasted that the GOP-led House investigation had harmed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
The comment was criticized by lawmakers on both side of the aisle and outgoing Speaker John Boehner released a scathing statement piling onto McCarthy on Thursday.
Kristol weighed in via Twitter:
Boehner cleans up after McCarthy. Embarrassing for the likely next Speaker.
Statement on the Benghazi Committee.

Yes Bill, the truth can be embarrassing.
Dear God, if only he’d texted a picture of his junk to a hot supporter…
Oh, Bill. If only you could see that your shamelessness is equally embarrassing.
Scathing statements. A confession of embarrassment by Kristol. And that’s all we get. The witch hunt will go on.
Now if only anything Kristol said actually meant anything.
