Vice President Joe Biden told House Democrats Thursday that the nomination of Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) would be “a gift from the Lord,” Yahoo Politics reported.

“We may be given a gift from the Lord in the presidential race here,” Biden reportedly told legislators who were at the annual House of Representatives Democratic conference.

Biden’s comments came hours before the Fox News GOP debate and the Trump campaign’s rival event were scheduled to start.

“I don’t know who to root for more: Cruz? Or what’s that guy’s name, he’s having a fundraiser for veterans tonight, I’m told,” Biden told the crowd.
