Vice President Joe Biden took the oath of office at 8:21 a.m. ET Sunday, according to a White House pool report. The ceremony took place at the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory with his family. He was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
After taking the oath, Biden kissed the justice and told her it was an honor, according to the pool report. As the audience of friends and family applauded, Biden thanked everyone for coming. He then thanked Sotomayor again, “And Madame Justice, it’s been an honor – a great honor. Thank you!”
President Obama will be sworn in around 11:55 a.m.
