Actresses Betty White and Wendy Malick appear in an ad for Rep. Howard Berman, a Democrat whose district was combined with fellow Los Angeles-area Democratic Rep. Brad Sherman. White is a supporter of animal rights, a cause Berman has been involved in

In the ad, Malick asks White, “Betty, if you want a friend in Washington, do you know what you do?”

“Get a dog,” White replies. “That’s what I’ve been told.”

“And what else?”

“Re-elect Congressman Howard Berman. The Valley leader who fights for the humane treatment of all animals,” White says. “And he has very nice blue eyes.”

Berman then appears, holding a dog, to approve the message.

The Los Angeles Times endorsed Berman for the 30th District, which includes portions of Hollywood, on Monday. The primary election is on June 5.
