As the Democratic primary comes close to wrapping up, Bernie Sanders’ campaign is planning to lay off at least half its staff, the New York Times reported. The move comes after Hillary Clinton reportedly has secured the delegates necessary to win the nomination, though Sanders has showed few signs of backing down from his vow to take the race all the way to the convention.
The New York Times based its report on two unnamed sources: a current campaign official and a former staffer. Some of the campaign staff departing the campaign may find positions in his Senate office, the report said.
According to his campaign spokesman Michael Briggs, Sanders is scheduled to travel to his home in Vermont, after Tuesday’s primary night rally in California, but will return to the trail on Thursday for events ahead of Washington’s primary.
I know it’ll be painful if you give it up, but do it anyway.
If you wait it’ll be worse for you when you finally do.
The party’s over Bernie, drink up and go home…
There’s a serious typo in the headline. That should be ALL instead of “At Least Half Of.”
Eh, D.C. gets the shaft on every single election ever. If Senator Sanders wants to go have a rally or two to let the residents of the District air their issues (which are often unique, and are completely legitimate, like the way they have no real say in their own administration) on his way back to work in the Senate, let him. The people of D.C. deserve to be heard a hell of a lot more often than they are. It’s not gonna change a damn thing, and he knows it.
Let’s just hope the half getting laid off include Jeff Weaver. What a douche.
I’m good with that, as long as he stops attacking the nominee.
However, I fear he won’t.
