Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Sunday at a campaign rally that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s policy on deporting undocumented citizens amounted to “xenophobia.”
Trump has said that he wants to build a wall along the United States’ southern border (and have Mexico pay for it), deport the millions of undocumented immigrants living in the country, and end the right that grants citizenship to those born in the U.S.
Sanders noted Trump’s thoughts during his rally from Las Vegas.
“For Donald Trump, or anyone else in this country, to refer to people from Mexico as rapists and criminals — that is not an American value. That is old-fashioned racism and we will not tolerate it,” Sanders said.
“It is not an American value to talk about rounding up millions of people and simply say that we are going to throw them out of the country,” Sanders said. “That is xenophobia.”

Yeah, I think I saw him say that on SNL last weekend.
I love Bernie, but damn, he looks a little scary in that photo.
Trump appeals largely to the racist base of the GOP.
Sanders is correct, but his criticism bolsters Trump’s supporters.
Build a wall around the racists. Isolate them and bite off their heads.
I wish I’d watched that. I’d love to see the lady sign “xenophobia”.
He’s really burning his bridges. Sander’s definitely will not be invited to the next Trump wedding.
