Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said after the GOP debate on Tuesday night that Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen a “wonderful person” but wouldn’t say if he’d consider reappointing her if elected.

Carson spoke with debate moderator and Fox News host Neil Cavuto after the event ended.

“Janet Yellen is a wonderful person,” Carson said. “I’ve known her for many years.”

“But… you would not necessarily be reappointing her if you became President of the United States?” Cavuto said.

“Well I’m not necessarily even saying that,” Carson said, adding that he’s not considering it “one way or the other.”

Yellen was often criticized during the evening, including when former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was asked during the undercard debate if Yellen was the right person for the job.

“Well my wife’s name is Janet, and when you say Janet yelling I’m very familiar with what you mean,” Huckabee said.
