Former Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), who last week criticized Chuck Hagel’s past remarks ahead of the former Republican senator’s nomination to be defense secretary, on Monday said he hopes Hagel is confirmed.
Frank told the Boston Globe Monday: “As much as I regret what Hagel said, and resent what he said, the question now is going to be Afghanistan and scaling back the military. In terms of the policy stuff, if he would be rejected [by the Senate], it would be a setback for those things.”
President Obama is expected to nominate Hagel to the Pentagon Monday afternoon
