Ron Barber, the former aide to Gabrielle Giffords who is now running in a special election to succeed her, has released a new positive ad Tuesday touting the endorsements he’s received from Arizona newspapers. Called “Common Ground,” the ad quotes the endorsement from the Tuscon Weekly, which charges that Republicans “are stepping across party lines to support” Barber and says he will “work with other people to make Southern Arizona a better place.”
The ad begins airing Tuesday on broadcast and cable in the Tuscon market. The special election, in which Barber faces Republican Jesse Kelly, an Iraq was veteran, is June 12.
