Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) stood by her claims of possible Muslim Brotherhood infiltration into the U.S. government, during a visit back home to Minnesota.

“The concerns I have and my colleagues have are real,” Bachmann told the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Monday, while touring a bridge project site. “We cannot elevate political correctness over national security.”

Bachmann and four other House Republicans have accused Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, of having ties to the Muslim Brotherhood that would call into question her influence on American foreign policy.

The paper reports:

She said she spends 30 to 40 hours a week researching and reading about national security issues and speaks regularly to people who work on these issues for federal agencies. That’s on top of the classified information she receives as a member of the House Intelligence Committee.

“There’s an amazing amount of information available,” Bachmann said. “I take this issue very seriously.”
