David Axelrod, senior Obama campaign adviser, said that Mitt Romney is trying to “exploit” the attacks in Libya for political gain on “Fox News Sunday.”
“There’s no doubt that he’s working hard to exploit this issue,” Axelrod said.
Axelrod said that the attacks and the administration’s response were worthy of discussion, but noted that Romney was “cravenly” using the incident as a political weapon.
On Thursday, the campaign’s deputy manager Stephanie Cutter said that the attacks were a political issue because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
