On a conference call with reporters Monday afternoon, senior Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod rebuked the RNC’s latest hit on an Obama bundler by mentioning Mitt Romney’s most questionable surrogate. Earlier Monday, the RNC released a video attacking Obama for holding a fundraiser with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

“It’s kind of humorous that they would take that tact,” Axelrod said on the call. “Just last week you had the big Donald Trump fundraiser, they’re promoting dinner with The Donald.”

The RNC video mocks an Obama campaign video featuring Wintour that was released on Friday — the same day poor jobs numbers came out. “Obama’s focused on keeping his job,” text at the end of the video reads. “But what about yours?”

“He does stuff with Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and others,” Axelrod said. “So, you know, I don’t think they have a whole lot of standing on this issue.”
