Former senior White House adviser David Axelrod on Sunday had a frank response to the recently surfaced comments made by MIT professor Jonathan Gruber, who helped craft the health care law.

In the video, Gruber said that Obamacare passed due to a “lack of transparency” about the bill and the “stupidity of the American voter.”

When Buzzfeed asked Axelrod to expand on the tweet, he responded, “Seems self-explanatory.”

The White House on Wednesday said Gruber’s comments are “simply not true.”
