Reuters reports that a series of attacks in northern Nigeria have killed at least 52 people and left dozens more wounded. Rioting ensued after three suicide bombings rocked churches, killing at least 19 people. The bombings, thought to be the work of Islamist group Boko Haram, were followed by Christian youths setting up roadblocks and attacking Muslims.

The Nigerian government imposed a 24-hour curfew in Kaduna, which residents say largely restored order. The weekend’s events represent some of the worst rioting since April 2011, when Goodluck Jonathan, a southern Christian, bested Muhammadu Buhari, a northern Muslim, in the presidential election.
