Arizona’s former state Senate majority leader abruptly resigned from the legislature on Friday amid an ethics hearing over his role in a fight with a woman on the side of a freeway last year.
Sen. Scott Bundgaard, a Republican who lost his leadership role shortly after the physical struggle, was scheduled to testify Friday afternoon following a day and a half of withering testimony from eyewitnesses, police officers and the woman.
Instead, the Associated Press reports, he resigned his seat and the rest of the hearing was called off.
