The Huffington Post will no longer cover former reality television star Donald Trump’s presidential campaign as entertainment or “a sideshow” because it has morphed “into an ugly and dangerous force in American politics,” according to a Monday night letter from co-founder and editor in chief Arianna Huffington.

The viral news organization will no longer file Trump coverage under the entertainment section.

When the decision was announced in July, Trump released a statement that said he “wasn’t a fan of Arianna Huffington or the money-losing Huffington Post.”

Huffington’s letter said the organization will “continue to remind the public of what he stands for” and “won’t … be distracted by the showmanship.”

Trump’s “cruelty” has been “aided” by mainstream media, she wrote.

“Now that Trump, aided by the media, has doubled down on the cruelty and know-nothingness that defined his campaign’s early days, the ‘can you believe he said that?’ novelty has curdled and congealed into something repellent and threatening — laying bare a disturbing aspect of American politics,” Huffington wrote.
